LOVE IN THE TIME OF EBOLA

Image
___________________ When a complete-denture wearer, Florentino Ariza, kissed America Vicuna who was having braces over her mal-aligned teeth, both of them were oblivious about the time-distance between them. It was just sixty years. Florentino was, meantime, sending messages with his trembling fingers on keyboard. The messages contained meditation on life, love, old age and death. And the recipient Fermina Daza found these messages compassionate because she was recovering from the demise of her husband Dr Juvenal Urbino lately. Dr Urbino lost his life chasing a wild boar which has invaded the towns from its endangered habitat. Winning her heart, Florentino Ariza made several visits to Fermina Daza’s place and finally convinced her to an unplanned trip. America Vicuna, whom Florentino had promised to marry despite their ages, found the secrets enshrouded within the wrinkled skins of old man. Hacking his personal account, she found that he was involved in co...

Sindhuli Gadhi

Image
Located at serene hills of Sindhuli district, Sindhuli Gadhi, is a historic place lying on the outskirts of Banepa-Bardibas Highway. It is implausible, at least for me, that the British forces reached these mountains to fight against the mighty Gurkhas. The visit to this place may devolve the ebullience for many travelers if their penchant is only for natural beauties. However one who is reverend to history, that too with such an insurmountable hegemony of our own Nepali ancestors, this place shall supplicate some moment of placid pride. Apart from what I explained one would like its salubrity away from the plethora of pollutants residing in the cities. Guileless promenade up to Small Gadhi (Sano Gadhi) and then to the remnants of Court and Jail will be hands down walk but steep ride to Large Gadhi (Thulo Gadhi) will be certainly strenuous. The photos of Gurkha-fighters orchestrated on the branches of trees and along side the roads will be linchpin between young Nepalese who shed bl...

Hangover of the BOOK THIEF

Dear Death, Good (time adverbial appropriate for you at this time) ! It happened in one of the trepidatious evenings, I was bestirred in my own thoughts. The thoughts of meeting you. It was a complex hoard of long awaited thoughts. Perhaps when I had heard about you in few of the famous people's talks. I heard more. More was intensity of the desire to meet you. Who on the Earth would like to meet you. Perhaps only those who have heard about you. And none you have already met. My meeting was, however, incidental. An awkward accident. An unpleasant coincidence. Because you were stacked in the middle of nowhere. You were arrayed in the coffee-talks, cheap cries, lovebirds' babbles and what not. And then I was looming in the moderately-lit small room, looking for some lively things. NOT Death obviously. Nobody wants death. But nobody survives till eternity. But the Death can devour anybody's time. Like mine.  You snatched from my life, complete 12 hours from my 5...
